However if I set the output as Ensemble, Soundflower (2ch) input displays multiple inputs including 8 Optical channels (Mirroring the Ensemble output) when Built-In Output is selected for Output, and Soundflower (2ch) is selected for input - it shows 2 available channels for Soundflower (2ch) input and the same for the Built-In Output. Interestingly - the GUI of the input seems to change to match that of the output. But I can still hear the microphone and I can still see an input and output level on the meter for the microphone. And both the input and output meters in AU Lab show no level. However if I set the Output of AU Lab to Ensemble I can no longer hear iTunes.
I can hear iTunes through the computer's built in speakers. In AU Lab I then choose Soundflower (2ch) as input, and Built-In Output for Output. If in System Preferences -> Sound - I select Soundflower (2ch) as my output device. With a microphone plugged in, I can hear the microphone through Ensemble and see the level input and output in AU Lab. System Preferences -> Sound - Ensemble selected as Output device - I hear iTunes through speakers as expected. However I'm hearing no sound and not seeing any level on the input or output of AU Lab when I do this. I am trying to route sound from my computer (iTunes, Spotify, DAW etc) through AU Lab using Soundflower before reaching my Apogee Ensemble interface. One odd thing I've noticed, is when I use Facetime, the app "quiets down." Something in Facetime's operations makes it the loudest/default audio app, subordinating other things (like this app or Spotify).I'm having trouble using AU Lab in conjunction with Soundflower and my Apogee Ensemble firewire sound interface. You get 16 channels of audio (configurable up to 256 if you need that for some reason), lots of sample rates, and as with the other solutions mentioned here zero latency.

I'm wondering if there might be a way to use a similar feature to shut this app up! Basically, look to Soundflower first for older OSes, and consider Blackhole for 10.10 (Yosemite) and later, especially if you’re up to Mojave or Catalina. I just downloaded sound recording app, Soundflower 2.0b2 on a mac laptop running Yosemite 10.10.5 it doesn't show up in my applications folder at all. Would love to hear any thoughts/suggestions about how I could silence this obnoxious app. I just don't want anyone to link to a 5 year old article that is still out of date. I don't think it is still a viable option (but if it is I'd be happy to hear about it). This app seems to have changed purposes and all linked articles about using it to mute applications on Mac are 4-5 years out of date. The only thing I've seen out there to do this is an app called AudioHijack. The only way I can get it to not make noise is to turn my system sound off (which I don't want to do). Is there any possible way to mute an application? I am using Yosemite 10.10.3 on a 2013 MBP.īasically I have an application that I want to keep open but it makes noise and has ZERO sound options.
